The Virtual Museum Project is a cooperation between University of San Carlos, Cebu City, Philippines and Delft University of Technology, Delft, The Netherlands. The project director is Fr. Vic Uy, the assistant project director is the curator of the museum. The project will be continued until 2006. By then a full-featured, hi-tech Virtual Museum for the museum of USC will be available. The project is being executed by students from both Delft and Cebu City.
The project started in May 2004 with the development of the pilot website. This pilot website was the first version of the Virtual Museum. It showed wat could be expected from the eventual Virtual Museum. It already included some of the features and possibilities of the eventual Virtual Museum. The underlying database could be accessed so the user was already able to view a part of the museum's collection. This pilot had been created during the months May and June of 2004 by the first Virtual Museum Project team from Delft. This team consisted of:
- Jelle Roozenburg
- Paul Maaskant
- Harry Seip
- Michel Meulpolder
The first team can be contacted via e-mail: filippijnen@ch.tudelft.nl.
This website was created by the second Virtual Museum Project team from Delft. They developed the database and the visitor website. By now all the important features are incorporated in the system. The underlying collection database can be accessed and the user is able to view the entire collection of the museum. Besides this the user also has the possibility to explore the real museum on the internet by the Virtual Tour and can explore educational documents. The second Virtual Museum Project team worked on the project during the months May, June and July 2005. The team consisted of:
- Christiaan ten Berg
- Ruben van Eijnatten
- Gde Hardjosumarto
- Richard Stronkman
The second team can be contacted via e-mail: vmp2005@ewi.tudelft.nl.
The website was further extended in 2006 by the third Virtual Museum Project team.
